Finally revisited my Mac Pro (8 Core Intel Xeon gen 1 flashed to gen 2), upgraded to El Cap (10.11.6), upgraded from 8 GB of RAM to 32 GB, added an SSD, and upgraded the GFX card with a spare Nvidia GTX660 w/2GB of RAM. This thing works great!
